A Foreign Installation

"Each one of us human beings has two minds. One is totally ours, and it is like a faint voice that always brings us order, directness, purpose. The other mind is a foreign installation. It brings us conflict, self-assertion, doubts, hopelessness."

Our Deepest Fear

.
.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond Measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other
people won't feel insecure around you. We were born
to make manifest that Glory of God
that is within us.

A portion of the Inaugural Speech of Nelson Mandela (1994)

The Chosen People

For many indigenous cultures of the world, there are several kinds of people. Along with human people, or Two-legged People, there are Standing People (trees), Four-legged people (deer, bear, wolves, etc.), Winged People (birds, bats, etc.), Swimming people (fish, whales, etc.), and others. Among all these People, the Two-legged people are "chosen" to take care of all the rest. There are no Two-legged groups of humans "chosen" over any other Two-legged groups of humans; all are chosen and responsible to each other and the rest of creation.

Survival of Respect

"I must somehow share this message with others: that we should treat ourselves, each other, and our world with respect. Mother Nature will not allow anything less than this mutual interconnection of respect to survive on earth," Amos said quietly.
